How hourly pay becomes annual gross pay

Multiply the hourly rate by regular paid hours per week, then multiply by paid weeks per year. If you enter additional overtime hours, their pay uses your entered multiplier and is added to each paid week. For an illustrative $25 hourly rate, 30 paid hours each week and 48 paid weeks produce $36,000 of annual gross pay before any deductions.

Divide annual gross pay by 12 for an average calendar month, 26 for a biweekly average, or 24 for a semimonthly average. A worker with unpaid weeks can earn a different amount during each worked week than the average across all 52 calendar weeks. Biweekly and semimonthly schedules have different numbers of pay periods.

A published occupation wage is a market statistic with its own definition. This calculator models the schedule you enter and cannot change that statistic’s native pay period or determine take-home pay. Read the guide to hourly and annual pay.
